Open invite to Harborough Lotto's 1st birthday event

Good causes and not-for-profit organisations in the district are invited to a special event to celebrate the one year anniversary of the Harborough District Community Lottery – or ‘Harborough Lotto’.

The celebrations will be held at The Symington Building on Wednesday 12 June from 6pm – 8pm.
The Council launched the lottery, with lottery operator Gatherwell, in 2018 as an innovative way to help good causes in the Harborough district boost their coffers.

Since then, over 40 local charities, voluntary groups and not-for-profit organisations have registered to benefit from the lottery – with good causes generating more than £35,000, in 12 months, thanks to over 1,100 lotto tickets being sold a week.

Nearly £9,000 has been given away in cash prizes for players of the Harborough Lotto – plus nearly £3,000 in free tickets and £250 worth of Amazon vouchers.

One year on – the Council wants to celebrate this success, and say thank you to everyone involved, by holding a special birthday event and inviting all the Lotto good causes, and others, to come along.

Cllr Michael Rickman, Harborough District Council’s portfolio holder for communities, said: “We would encourage any not-for-profit group wanting to know more about the Lotto and how it could help raise much-needed funds to come along and find out more – groups can even sign-up on the night. As an extra incentive, any new groups which register to be a Lotto good cause during June 2018 will be entered into a special draw to win £250.”

There will also be an opportunity on the night for good causes which are already registered with the Lotto to win a big cash prize.

Places will be limited at the event but if you would like to come along to the birthday celebration email [email protected]
