Market Harborough Lawn Tennis Club scoop £250

Market Harborough Tennis club have been the latest club to scoop £250 and are using Lottery funding to help pay for their disabled coaching sessions twice per week. We caught up with Lesley, who is the Chair of the club to hear more. 

Volunteers  support our coach and court space is free but we do pay a qualified coach to lead each session . This is our third year of the programme which supports adults from Freedom Support and children from Birkett House Special School.

We have managed previously with grants and fundraising initiatives, but these are becoming more difficult.

The Harborough Lotto is a brilliant way of raising funds for this project and does not just have to be restricted to tennis club members. Also, members who cannot give time to be on court and volunteer can help by buying a ticket.

We heard about the lottery from HDC and have been delighted that it has given us a way forward with funding this community project. I would have no hesitation in recommending it to others as it is a `win win` situation . We have just had our first £250 winner and this will help raise the profile. Pauline was the lucky winner last Saturday. We asked her why she chose to support this cause, how she heard of the lotto and what winning has meant to her.

I am supporting MH Tennis club because I have enjoyed playing there for over 15 years and the committee have worked extremely hard to make it a friendly, welcoming club to all. They have also raised money to build an amazing new clubhouse.

I heard about the Lottery from our Tennis Club Chair.

Winning means a great deal as I can give back some benefit to the club that has given so much to me.

I would recommend anyone to sign up to the Lottery as it is a simple way to help local good causes whilst giving you the possibility of winning money for your own chosen cause.
